Joan of Arc - 1999

Joan of Arc is only a teenager when she witnesses the atrocities of the English against her family, and has a divine vision that inspires her to lead the French into battle to rid the country of the English forces.

In this epic medieval war classic set during the Hundred Years’ War, acclaimed film director Luc Besson portrays the struggles of this French heroine and martyr, as she battles the English and is manipulated by the political forces involved.

Starring Mila Jovovich, John Malkovich, Faye Dunaway and Dustin Hoffman, and an original score composed by Eric Serra.

Farewell My Queen - 2012

This 2012 historical drama directed by Benoît Jacquot and starring Léa Seydoux, Diane Kruger and Virginie Ledoyen follows Marie-Antoinette and her courtiers as they are confronted with the turmoil of the French Revolution. They continue living a lavish lifestyle in Versailles, but when news of the storming of the Bastille reaches them, panic sets in and most of the aristocrats and their servants dessert the sinking ship. The devoted Queen’s reader, on the other hand, choses to stay by the side of her mistress… A tense, absorbing and pleasingly unique look at the life and lies of a doomed monarch.


Frantz - 2016

Just after World War I, in a small German town, Anna returns each day to the grave of her fiancé, Frantz, who died on the frontlines in France. But this particular day, Adrien, a young Frenchman, has come to lay flowers on the grave of his German friend. He comes back bearing a secret about her fiancé, and the presence of the Frenchman after the German defeat gives rise to passionate reactions in the town.

Released in 2016 and directed by François Ozon, the film stars French actor Paul Niney and German actress Paula Beer.


Violette - 2013

Released in 2013 and directed by the award-winning Martin Provost, Violette is a sympathetic and moving drama of one of the most distinctive, but unheralded writers of 20th century literature : Violette Leduc. The film captures the extraordinary relationship between her and the famous academic Simone de Beauvoir, as her literary career is launched and she is introduced into the intellectual circles of Paris.
