PRESENTATION OF CORSICA REGION
Thursday 29 January, 6.30pm, Alliance Francaise's library

"The Island of Beauty" as French calls Corsica, is an island in the Mediterranean sea belonging to France.

Corsica is an island of History. After being ruled by the Republic of Genoa since 1284, Corsica was briefly independent until its conquest by France in 1769. The rich and chequered history of Corsica manifests itself around every corner with some fascinating architecture.
Corsica is an island of Beauty. Hundreds of perfect beaches, magnificent scenerey, attractive harbour towns resorts and numerous small villages hidden in the surrounding landscape, and of course the perfect Mediterranean climate, all come together to create an ideal destination. The island remains surprisingly untouched despite its central location and its beauty.
Corsica is an island of culture.  One of Corsica's greatest asset is the richness of its culture, with its unique polyphonic music, its Corsican language, its traditional rituals, superstitions and magic and its foods and wine specialties.
