Presentation and painting demonstration with Jean-Louis Diaz

Jean-Louis Diaz is a visual artist based in France and Australia. He is inspired by the rural diversity of Jouques, his home village near Aix-en-Provence. Jean-Louis will discuss his work with reference to his themes, painting techniques and the history of oil and encaustic painting, which predates Renaissance oil painting and dates back to ancient Greece and Egypt.

There will be a demonstration of oil and encaustic painting, linked to Jean-Louis' paintings on display at the Alliance Française in Perth.
The lecture will also include a discussion of the work of Paul Cézanne, Vincent Van Gogh, André Derain, David Hockney and Peter Doig.
